She is waking up with all these thoughts and she is not sure where she is.Lakshmi wakes up and realizes this is not the city she dreamed it would be. She wants to go back to sleep and wake up to the life she use to have. This place she is in definitely is not what she hoped for, she is at a prostitutional village for women who are sold into prostitution. When all these other girls are putting make up on her and gettting all dressed up she doesn't know what she is about to do and they won't tell her till she finds out herself. She knows something is not right in this situation she just wants to go home. Shahanna is a girl who brought Laksmi tea to drink and wants Lakshmi to just agree with Mumtaz so she can live and not get sent to another village just like this one. First Few Chapters.

In the beginning of the book i am currently reading it talks about how Lakshmi is more mature and wants to go into the city and try to make more money for the poor family. Her mother tries to tell her that she needs to stay in school no matter what her stepfather says or wants to do with her. Lakshmi is promised to marriage with a boy with sleepy cat eyes named Krishna. Lakshmi is kind of like the second mom because she helps take care of Ama and tells her she will help her with her spelling next week. So far in the book i can tell the stepfather cant' be too nice because it talks about Ama kneeling at his feet when she sees him and also how Lakshmi wants to go to the city to work and he has no problem with it, while he probably knows whats going on.

Sold.....

The book i am currently reading is called "Sold" its categorized under fiction. This book does say its under fiction but it also can fit under non-fiction because it can be a true story in many way. My book is told in first person. Just knowing that this book is told in first person it already gives off a personal connection. First person sets off a very personal state of mind already.
This book is about a teenage girl getting sold into prostitution. Lakshmi is the main character and she tells this story from her point of view. She is suppose to leave home and get a job to help out the family so her stepfather says. I feel that the author revealed this book in a poem way to give all details and effects in a different order. The author wanted to keep it secret yet want you too keep reading. She really wants to build up the facts that lead to the intense part of the book. There are only a few conflicts in this book so far. One of the first conflicts is the fact her stepfather tells her she needs to go into the city and find a job to help supports the family. Her mom doesn't think this is right and doesn't want her to go. Lakshmi really wants to go work and help her family. That conflict would be external. The authors style in this book is very edgy and random.
